Our method
Beautiful, well-behaved puppies start with the Angel Matchmaker Method.
Every Angel Pups litter starts long before it’s born, with a pairing planned for health, temperament, color, coat, and size. Here’s what we breed for, how we choose our parents, and how your puppy spends their first eight weeks.
What we breed for
Temperament above all.
A beautiful coat matters. A dog who’s affectionate, settles easily, and fits your life matters more.
Rich color that lasts.
Many dogs lighten as they grow, so we choose parents with rich pigment and a family history of keeping their color into adulthood. We’ll always be honest that a puppy’s coat can soften with age.
Smaller sizes.
We select parents for compact, travel-friendly sizes. Each listing shows the parents’ weights and our best estimate for your puppy.
Beautiful blue eyes.
Some of our merle and phantom lines carry the genetics for striking blue eyes. We select for them carefully, always with health as the first consideration.
Classic markings.
Four white socks, a broad white blaze, and a generous white tuxedo chest. When a puppy has all of them together, we call it winning the genetic lottery.
Coats for real life.
Wavy or straight, soft, and low-shedding, suited to tidy homes and to families who’d rather not vacuum daily.
How we choose parents
Every parent is genetically tested.
Before we plan a pairing, each dam and sire is tested, and we share those results with you.
No two carriers, ever.
We never pair two parents who carry the same genetic disease, so puppies are born free of each of the conditions we test for.
Sires from programs we trust.
Some of our sires live with us in Guardian Angel families. Others come from respected programs selected for the same qualities we breed for.
Raised at home
Our mothers live full-time with Guardian Angel families as much-loved family dogs, because we believe a calm, well-loved mother raises calmer puppies.
The first eight weeks
Early neurological stimulation (ENS).
From day 3 to day 17, we do a few minutes of gentle, specific handling each day. This helps puppies grow into confident, resilient dogs who are at ease being handled, at the vet, at the groomer, and in your arms.
Sound confidence.
Puppies’ ears open at around two weeks. From then on, our families gently introduce the sounds and sensations that can unsettle many dogs, starting quietly and building slowly, with comfort and treats throughout.
-
Run in another room first, then closer as puppies stay relaxed.
-
Everyday household sounds, repeated until they’re nothing new.
-
Recordings at low volume during play and naps.
-
Recordings, raised gradually.
-
Recordings at a whisper first, raised over time.
-
An electric toothbrush run over each puppy, so the buzz and vibration of clippers feel familiar.
Socialization and first lessons.
Puppies meet new people, surfaces, and household routines. They’re handled with care on ears, paws, and tail to be comfortable with human touch.
Photo updates every two weeks.
We update each litter with new photos and video, so families following a litter can watch personalities emerge.
The Temperament & Compatibility Profile
At about seven weeks, when personality starts to show, we can complete a hands-on evaluation for any puppy on request. We observe what each puppy actually does, using the same exercises for every puppy in the litter, then record their strengths in five areas:
-
How much they seek people, closeness, and affection.
-
How they meet new people and things, and how quickly they recover from surprises.
-
Their focus on you and how quickly they pick up something new.
-
Their natural energy and love of play.
-
How easily they switch from play to calm: their “off switch.”
No profile is better than another. What matters is fit. We use a puppy’s profile, alongside what you’ve told us about your home, to recommend the best match. Calmer puppies go to quieter homes, playful puppies to active families.
